The small business started in 1952 by Luigi Ripa and now headed by Luca Bianco has become a name to contend with in high quality, Italian-made knits.
Located in Lombardy, Maglificio Ripa manufactures more than 4 million meters a year on 80 circular knitting looms. It’s one of Europe’s leading specialists in second skin knits, with 80 people on the payroll and €20 million in sales. Collections are organised by range and market: Skin (lingerie), Splash (swimwear), Sport (sportswear and activewear), and Dress (ready-to-wear). One of the company’s most successful lines is the emblematic Light collection of polyamide fabrics, updated in 2014 (Light 2.0 and Light 2.1) and stocked in several colours. Another is Deep, a line of dyeable elastane knits with excellent colour absorption. The minimum order amount is 300 meters.
Maglificio Ripa is certified Oeko-Tex and Iso 9001. The company counts Simone Pérèle, Lou, Huit, and Etam among its customers. Exports represent 40 percent of sales with strong growth in the United States.
Latest innovations: The Qnova and Evo recycled polyamide fabrics introduced in 2016, and, for 2017, ultra-fine nanofibres in a Jacquard weave.
